Roy Wood Jr has a new gig

Roy Wood Jr., a former Daily Show correspondent, is scheduled to bring laughter to CNN's upcoming comedy-news series Have I Got News For You.

Wood will host the show, with comedians Amber Ruffin and Michael Ian Black serving as team captains, CNN said in a news statement.

Ruffin and Black's jobs will be to guide visitors, including "notable entertainers, political figures, and comedians," through a series of games and panel discussions designed to test their understanding of current events.

"It's an honor to collaborate alongside comedic greats Michael Ian Black and Roy Wood Jr. "It is our hope that this show will take people from saying, 'This is CNN.' to 'THIS is CNN!?!?,'" Ruffin said of his involvement in the 10-episode limited series.

Black, who is white, joked about winning the job because he is a diversity, equity, and inclusion hiring, clearly mocking President Donald Trump's and his supporters' comments about Democratic presidential contender Kamala Harris.

"I'm thrilled to be joining Roy Wood Jr. and Amber Ruffin as Have I Got News For You's DEI hire," Black told me.

"I'm looking forward to spreading as much disinformation as possible on America's most trusted news network - my main focus has been, and will continue to be, pleasing my handlers in the Kremlin," said the stand-up comic.

The show is a replica of Jimmy Mulville's long-running BBC comedy series, produced in 1990.

Mulville will serve as executive producer, and Hat Trick Productions, which he co-owns, will produce for CNN Originals.

CNN's Have I Got News For You premieres Saturday, September 14 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

next the launch, the show will air on Saturdays at the same time every week and stream on Max the next day.
