Introducing the cast of “Goons”

The horror thriller Goons, starring Chloe Bailey and Michael Rainey Jr., has expanded its cast to include J. Alphonse Nicholson, YG, and Tyler Lepley, according to Blavity's Shadow and Act.

SteVonté Hart and Serayah McNeil also join the cast. The film's production is presently ongoing in New Orleans and the surrounding areas. Plot details are unknown, however the film is "set against the eerie backdrop of Louisiana cane fields and plantations."

Goons is the debut film from Confluential Films' new genre label, New Fear Unlocked Productions, which is "dedicated to bold, elevated, culturally specific horror films from creators of color."

Gerard McMurray, the director of The First Purge and Burning Sands, co-wrote the screenplay with Hodge K. Johnson. Tommy Oliver, founder/CEO of Confluential Films, is producing the film, which is also entirely funded by the company.

In a statement to Blavity's Shadow and Act, McMurray stated, "YG, J. Alphonse, Serayah, SteVonté, and Tyler all offer their own distinct flavor to this fantastic concoction we are cooking up on Goons here in my hometown of New Orleans. I can't wait for the world to see what we're putting together with this young, talented cast."

New Fear Unlocked Productions is co-producing with McMurray's Buppie Productions.
