Clipped revisits Donald Sterling

In the forthcoming FX miniseries Clipped, the racism scandal that shook the Los Angeles Clippers is brought to light.

The six-part series features Laurence Fishburne, Jacki Weaver, Cleopatra Coleman, and Ed O'Neill in leading roles.
The trailer, which debuted on April 25, provides an inside look at the controversy that resulted in the life suspension of former Chicago Clippers owner Donald Sterling from the NBA.
Sterling is ecstatic to have V. Stiviano (Cleopatra Coleman), a Black personal assistant and coach by his side. On the contrary, he abstains from being in the company of fellow African Americans.

Sterling, whose marriage to Shelly (Jacki Weaver) has been tumultuous for decades, develops an affectionate attachment to V.

His much-younger mistress records the businessman advising her in covert not to "bring African Americans to my games."

In April 2014, TMZ officially released the bigoted recordings, which subsequently compelled Sterling to sell the team and received an expulsion from the league.

As stated in the official synopsis for Clipped, "The limited series documents the convergence of an even less functional marriage and a dysfunctional basketball organization, as well as the consequences of the tape's inception on a group of individuals vying for victory amidst the cursed setting of the league."

Harriet Sansom Harris, J. Alphonse Nicholson, Kelly AuCoin, Corbin Bernsen, and Clifton Davis are also featured in the cast.

"ESPN 30 for 30" podcast "The Sterling Affairs" by Ramona Shelburne serves as the inspiration for the drama.

Shelburne assumed the role of executive producer in conjunction with the program's creator, Gina Welch. In addition to Kevin Bray, Brad Simpson, Nina Jacobson, and Zanne Devine serve as executive producers.

Clipped is an FX production that will make its Hulu debut on June 4.
