Bassett and DeNiro team up in Zero Day

Netflix has unveiled first look images for its upcoming limited series, Zero Day. The show features a star-studded cast, including Angela Bassett as the President of the United States and Robert De Niro as a former president. Additional cast members include Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Joan Allen, Connie Britton, Matthew Modine, Bill Camp, Dan Stevens, Gaby Hoffmann, Clark Gregg, and McKinley Belcher III.

A cyberattack cripples the nation, leaving chaos and a devastating death toll in its wake. Former U.S. President George Mullen, portrayed by Robert De Niro, leads the Zero Day Commission, tasked with uncovering the perpetrators. As Mullen navigates a web of disinformation, conflicting ambitions, and hidden agendas within the realms of technology, finance, and government, his relentless pursuit of truth forces him to confront his own past. In this high-stakes investigation, Mullen risks everything he holds dear to expose the truth and prevent future catastrophes.


Bassett plays President Evelyn Mitchell, “the current president of the United States. Mitchell is a brilliant and perceptive political tactician who hires Mullen to take on an unprecedented role in American history.”

De Niro’s Mullen is a “hugely popular but complicated former US president who’s pulled out of retirement to head the Zero Day Commission, an unprecedented group of experts tasked with investigating a devastating global cyberattack.”

Netflix's new limited series "Zero Day" explores the aftermath of a devastating global cyberattack. The show follows President Evelyn Mitchell, a brilliant political strategist played by Bassett, as she appoints former US President Mullen, portrayed by De Niro, to lead the Zero Day Commission. Mullen, a popular but complex figure, is tasked with investigating the cyberattack's origins.


The series, consisting of six episodes, is set to premiere on February 20. It is written and executive produced by Eric Newman and Noah Oppenheim, with Lesli Linka Glatter directing and executive producing all episodes. Michael S. Schmidt also contributes as a writer and executive producer, alongside De Niro and Jonathan Glickman.
