The Day of the Jackal Renewed over at Peacock

Peacock and Sky have swiftly renewed the series "The Day of the Jackal" for a second season, featuring stars Lashana Lynch and Eddie Redmayne. The show's success is evident in its top rankings. It claimed the No. 1 spot on Peacock's Top 10 TV Shows list in the U.S. and secured a position among the top 5 streaming originals during its opening weekend, based on initial Nielsen data. In the UK, the series has made a significant impact as the largest-ever Sky original and the biggest series launch on the platform in two years. Furthermore, it has achieved the distinction of being the biggest Sky original debut in key markets such as Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Ireland.

The series, featuring Úrsula Corberó, boasts a stellar supporting cast including Charles Dance, Richard Dormer, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lia Williams, Khalid Abdalla, Eleanor Matsuura, Jonjo O’Neill, Nick Blood, Sule Rimi, and Florisa Kamara.

Adapted from a 1971 novel, the series draws inspiration from its source material, which was previously brought to the screen in a 1973 film. A more loosely connected adaptation, titled "The Jackal," was also released in 1997.

The Jackal is a solitary assassin with a reputation for being both incredibly skilled and elusive. He accepts contracts for the highest bidder, but after his most recent job, he finds himself pursued by a relentless British intelligence officer. The ensuing chase across Europe is a thrilling game of cat and mouse, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

This high-stakes thriller stars Eddie Redmayne as the Jackal and Lashana Lynch as the determined intelligence officer on his trail. The series is written and executive produced by Ronan Bennett, with additional executive producers Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant for Carnival Films, Sam Hoyle for Sky Studios, and Sue Naegle.

The series is produced by Chris Hall, with Frederick Forsyth serving as a consulting producer.

Brian Kirk serves as both director and executive producer.Redmayne takes on the role of executive producer, while Lynch is a co-executive producer.

Carnival Films, a part of Universal International Studios (a division of Universal Studio Group), is behind the series' production.
