Tyler Perry’s “Beauty in Black” cast announced.
The lineup of actors has been chosen for Tyler Perry's new television series called Beauty in Black, which is his first TV project as part of a new collaboration with Netflix.
Perry is in charge of directing, writing, and producing a 16-episode drama series.
The main characters are Taylor Polidore Williams, known for her roles in Divorce in the Black and Snowfall, playing Kimmie, and former Miss USA 2008 Crystle Stewart, from Tyler Perry's The Oval and Acrimony, playing Mallory.
Kimmie is having a tough time after being forced out of her mom's house, while Mallory is a successful businesswoman on the way up. As the series progresses, the two women become increasingly involved in each other's lives.
Angi Bones and Tony Strickland will work together to produce a one-hour drama at Tyler Perry Studios.
'Beauty in Black' is one of the projects created by the maker of the Madea film series as part of his creative collaboration.
As mentioned before, Perry also has a long-term agreement with the streaming service to create, direct, and produce movies for their platform.
His first movie as part of the agreement, titled Mea Culpa, was released in February. In the legal thriller, Kelly Rowland plays a criminal defense lawyer who becomes romantically involved with the artist she is representing, who is charged with killing his girlfriend.
Next, we have Six Triple Eight, a movie starring Kerry Washington that tells the true story of the first and only Women's Army Corps unit of color to be deployed overseas during World War II.
Netflix will announce the release date for Beauty in Black later this year.
