Jonathan Majors avoids Jail
Actor Jonathan Majors will have to go through a year-long rehabilitation program, but he avoided jail time when he was sentenced to probation on Monday for attacking his ex-girlfriend in a high-profile case that destroyed his career.
The former Marvel franchise star faced up to a year in prison after being convicted of misdemeanor assault by a Manhattan jury in December.
Instead, a judge ordered that Majors will be placed on probation, must pay a $250 fine, and complete a 52-week in-person treatment program certified by the Los Angeles County probation department.
If Majors gets arrested at any point during his probation, he may face a year in jail. He is also not permitted to own, apply for, or own a firearm, as is common in domestic violence situations.
As part of the verdict, his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, will continue to be under full protection. Majors' DNA will also be collected as part of his punishment.
