Natasha Rothwell stands upfront in How to Die Alone
Natasha Rothwell will return to television this autumn with the Hulu comedy series How to Die Alone.
The actress devised the half-hour comedy and stars as "Mel," an airport worker having to deal with a number of personal concerns.
According to the official description, Mel is a "broke, fat, Black JFK airport employee who's never been in love and has forgotten how to dream."
Her life takes a surprising turn when "an accidental brush with death catapults her on a journey to finally take flight and start living by any means necessary."
The cast also includes Conrad Ricamora, Jocko Sims, and KeiLyn Durrel Jones. Bashir Salahuddin has a recurring guest role.
Rothwell and Vera Santamaria serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Desiree Akhavan is also an executive producer.
The sitcom is produced by ABC Signature in cooperation with Big Hattie Productions and distributed by Onyx Collective, a Disney Television Studios division that provides shows from artists of color and underrepresented views to consumers via Hulu.
Rothwell is most known by fans for her role as "Kelli" on Insecure. She also wrote and produced the popular HBO comedy series. The actress also performed in The White Lotus and has previously written for Saturday Night Live.
“This is what a dream coming true looks like. HOW TO DIE ALONE.” the actress announced on her social media.
The four-episode comedic series premieres September 13. New episodes will be available on Hulu every Friday.
