Jeffrey Wright joins Season 2 of The Last of us
Jeffrey Wright has booked a role in season 2 of HBO's The Last of Us, based on the best-selling video game franchise.
HBO and sibling streaming services Max confirmed the casting on social media Friday morning, stating that Wright will reprise his part as Isaac from Naught Dog's "The Last of Us Part II" game.
The network defines the protagonist as "the quietly powerful leader of a large militia group who sought liberty but instead has become mired in an endless war against a surprisingly resourceful enemy."
The Last of Us, a post-apocalyptic drama, premiered in 2023.
According to Variety, the series' actors Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, and Rutina Wesley will all return for the second season.
HBO and Sony Pictures Television co-produced the series. PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog are the producers.
Wright has a lengthy history with HBO. He won an Emmy Award for his performance in the network's 2004 miniseries Angels in America. He has also appeared in Westworld, Boardwalk Empire, and numerous HBO films.
The actor received an Oscar nomination earlier this year for his performance as a struggling author in American Fiction.
In March, he went on to star with Denzel Washington in Spike Lee's upcoming adaptation of the film High and Low.
He is also set to return to the Batman franchise as Lt. James Gordon in the 2026 film The Batman Part II.
