Hulk Hogan accused of racism again
A social media influencer has accused Hulk Hogan of racism, claiming that the wrestling star sacked her from a role as a brand ambassador for his new beer line after seeing her in person and learning she is Black.
Essence Jenai made the complaint in a video broadcast to TikTok on July 6.
Jenai included video evidence of herself at a liquor store with cases of Hogan's "Real American Beer" to prove she was hired to work for the beverage brand. She was also seen sharing a shopping cart with another Black model before posing for a shot with Hogan while he signed autographs.
She posted a video , “POV: Hulk Hogan paid you to be a brand ambassador and cancelled your contract the next day because he realized you were a BLACK brand ambassador.”
In a second tweet, Jenai shared a slideshow set to Kendrick Lamar's Drake diss tune "Not Like Us."
The caption stated “STORY TIME: Hulk Hogan paid me to be a brand Ambassador and this happened…My contract was for a week…After one day of promoting his brand…He cancelled my contract because ???”
Jenai was seen posing with Hogan again, this time flashing a thumbs up. On July 2, she was photographed beside another Black model as the two posed with cans of Hogan's beer. The next shot, dated July 3, shows two white models carrying beer cans.
Jenai also added a stream of text messages to the slideshow. In one communication, she inquired as to why she had been let go. The other party replied, "Essence." You did nothing wrong; in fact, I'm confident you performed excellent. But this client wants us to cancel the remaining events this week."
Hogan, real name Terry Bollea, has gone on a national tour to promote the beer brand. Jenai did not reveal the location of the store where they met.
