Diddy shakes up his legal team in a new bail appeal
Sean "Diddy" Combs is optimistic that a third attempt at bail would finally get him out of jail.
According to court documents acquired by TMZ on September 30, the hip-hop mogul filed a fresh bail appeal after his previous two pleas were denied.
Sources reportedly told the site that Diddy has hired attorneys Anthony Ricco and Alexandra Shapiro to help him fight for bail and avoid spending the rest of his life in federal jail.
For the time being, the mogul's outspoken attorney, Marc Agnifilo, is on the case.
Diddy, 54, was detained at a New York City hotel on September 16 and charged with three counts: racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
He was remanded to custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, after his bail request was denied, despite his lawyers' assurances that he would post a $50 million bond.
The founder of Bad Boy Records is also facing at least a dozen civil lawsuits alleging sexual abuse.
On Friday, September 27, a woman identified as Jane Doe filed the latest complaint in New York Supreme Court. The accuser said Diddy drugged and abused her many times between the fall of 2020 and the summer of 2024.
"At every visit, Defendant Combs would make her 'perform a performance' for him and would ply her with drink and narcotics until she passed out," according to the complaint." "She would wake up with bruises and injuries but no knowledge of how she had gotten them. This continued until July 2024."
Diddy has maintained his innocence as the lawsuits continue to pile up.
He also pleaded not guilty to all three counts in a 14-page federal indictment against him.
