Conan O’Brien is set to host the Oscars

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that Emmy-winning television host and comedian Conan O'Brien will host the upcoming Academy Awards. This will be O'Brien's first time hosting the Oscars.

In a statement, Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang expressed their enthusiasm, stating, "Conan's unique blend of humor, his passion for film, and his extensive live TV experience make him the ideal choice to lead this global celebration of cinema." They emphasized O'Brien's ability to connect with audiences and create a memorable evening honoring the year's outstanding films and filmmakers.

Known for his quick wit, O'Brien responded to the announcement with a humorous remark, adding to the anticipation surrounding his hosting debut at the Oscars.

“America demanded it, and now it’s happening: Taco Bell’s new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme,” he said. “In other news, I’m hosting the Oscars.”

The 97th Oscars will take place Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and will air live on ABC.

Conan O'Brien, renowned for his comedic talent and hosting prowess on shows like "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and "Conan," has been announced as the host of the 97th Academy Awards. The announcement follows Jimmy Kimmel's decision to decline hosting for a fifth time, despite having helmed the Oscars in 2017, 2018, 2023, and 2024.

The 97th Oscars, hosted by Conan O'Brien, will be broadcast live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
