Universal Announces 'Italianna' Starring Regé Jean-Page and Halle Bailey, With Will Packer Serving as Producer

Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page have been cast in Universal Pictures' next feature Italianna, which is produced by Will Packer.
Kat Coiro, a renowned television filmmaker whose most recent movie was 2022's Marry Me, starring Jennifer Lopez, is directing the film, which is based on an original idea by Ryan and Kristin Engle. For the time being, no details about the plot have been revealed. According to Deadline, after collaborating on Marry Me, Coiro and Universal tried hard to find another project together. They quickly secured two "highly coveted" performers, Bailey and Page, before moving on with production. Will Packer, who has a long history with Universal, is producing alongside Johanna Byer through his Will Packer Productions. Will Packer Productions has a first-look arrangement with Universal. Bailey, who is half of the Grammy-winning music duo Chloe x Halle with her sister Chloe Bailey, has been expanding her film profile in recent years with films such as The Little Mermaid and The Color Purple. This project also brings her back to Universal, where she previously starred as the co-lead in the studio's Pharrel musical, Golden, before it was canceled.
