Suits gets a full order and lands on the West Coast

NBC announced Friday that a Los Angeles-set spinoff of the courtroom drama has been ordered to series after filming the pilot earlier this year.

Suits: LA features a new cast and relocates the action from New York to the West Coast, with Stephen Amell (shown above) heading the cast as Ted Black.

According to the official description, Black is a former federal prosecutor in New York who has "reinvented himself, representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles." As his company faces a crisis, Black is compelled to violate his personal principles in order to survive.

Lex Scott Davis (Unbreak My Heart) joined Josh McDermitt as Black's protégé, Rick Dodsen, after the pilot was announced earlier this year.

This spinoff follows the spectacular streaming debut of the original Suits series, which broke watching records when it premiered on Netflix in June 2023.

Suits ran on USA from June 2011 to September 2019. The cast included Gabriel Macht ("Harvey Specter"), Gina Torres ("Jessica Pearson"), Patrick J. Adams ("Mike Ross"), Meghan Markle ("Rachel Zane"), Rick Hoffman ("Louis Litt"), and Sarah Rafferty ("Donna Paulsen").

Gina Torres, who left Suits in 2016, returned to her role as attorney Jessica Pearson in her own spinoff, Pearson, in 2019. The show began on USA Network in July 2019 and aired for one season of ten episodes before being canceled.
