Netflix's 'Supacell' trailer brings the black superhero saga to life

Supacell will launch a new bunch of superheroes, and they are all Black.

Netflix debuted the trailer for the new series on Wednesday, June 12.

The video depicts the superheroes coping with street violence while attempting to rescue a life.

Rapman (Blue Story), a British rapper, record producer, and filmmaker, developed the drama, which stars Eric Kofi Abrefa, who played the fan favorite Lamar on BMF. Tosin Cole (61st Street and Till) also stars.

The story follows five people who suddenly gain abilities. They share little in common other than the fact that they are all Black South Londoners. It is up to one man (Tosin Cole) to bring them all together and save the woman he loves.

This is the official description. "A typical group of humans are accidentally endowed with superhuman abilities. Before the group has an opportunity to learn how to use their talents, they discover that their new special skills have made them targets for the powerful agency that created them.

The cast also features Nadine Mills as Sabrina, Calvin Demba as Rodney, Josh Tedeku as Tazer, Adelayo Adedayo as Dionne, Rayxia Ojo as Sharleen, Giacomo Mancini as Spud, and Eddie Marsan as Ray.

Ghetts, a British rapper and composer, recently joined the cast as Krazy.

Rapman and Mouktar Mohammed serve as executive producers for New Wave, while Anna Ferguson and Steve Searle work for Netflix.

Supacell premieres Thursday, June 27 on Netflix.
