Magazine Dreams finally gets a release date

Magazine Dreams, Jonathan Majors' penultimate role before his personal firestorm over physical abuse allegations, has finally earned a release date from Briarcliff Entertainment, with Zeus Network joining as a marketing partner. Elijah Bynum wrote and directed the film, which swiftly gained popularity at Sundance. Unfortunately, Majors' legal issues prompted Searchlight Pictures to abandon the film, leaving it without a distributor. Majors also lost a number of roles, including the lead in a Dennis Rodman biography.

According to Deadline, the film, which had Oscar potential before being shelved for at least a year, will now be released on March 21, 2025 by Briarcliff Entertainment. Bynum issued a comment regarding the film's imminent release, complimenting the fact that the film crew's efforts will finally be recognized by the general audience.

“Dozens of incredibly talented people poured their time, energy and creativity into bringing this film to life, and I am immensely proud of their work,” he said. “I’m grateful to Tom Ortenberg and Briarcliff Entertainment for their unwavering support, passion, and for giving this film the opportunity to reach a wider audience.”

Zeus Network's CEO, Lemuel Plummer, has joined the film as an executive producer, in addition to serving as a marketing partner.

Majors' career has taken a turn for the better since he was officially convicted of two misdemeanor counts of harassment and physical violence against former girlfriend Grace Jabbari. First, Majors' sentence was surprisingly light considering he was facing jail time--he was sentenced to only one year of domestic violence counseling and personal mental therapy sessions. He also has a permanent protection order against him, which prohibits him from having any contact with Jabbari. Jabbari also recently dropped her federal assault and slander action against Majors, allowing Majors to put the legal system behind her.
Majors was also given the Perseverance Award by the Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards for his ability to demonstrate "that no matter what adversity they face, they will continue to aspire to inspire," according to the awards event. Martin Villeneuve has also cast Majors in his first post-conviction role, Merciless, a supernatural thriller. Majors will play a CIA operative attempting to save the love of his life from an evil presence. Filming began in Saskatchewan this fall.
